Brother Bird x Stateland Cafe: Tasting Brother Bird's Cream

Have you ever wondered what brother bird tastes like? Pungent, salty and creamy, yet oddly satisfying. These are just some words that can be used to describe Brother Bird's current seasonal ice cream flavours, durian and mooncake, which rotates on a regular basis.

A street away from the popular Haji Lane is Bali Lane, an alley packed with many cafes, bars and eateries. This place is so chill that there's a guy literally lepak-ing on the road, beside a trash bin.

Brother Bird x Stateland is strategically located here, and is well known for their ever-changing soft serve ice cream and mochi desserts.

There are no other varieties of ice cream available besides the current flavours. As such, it is advisable to call and ask about their flavours of the day before your visit.

Cool looking menu that resembles a magazine, although the human beings on the mags that i usually read are much lesser clothed, but let's not go there..

The ground level does not house many seatings, just a cosy little space with minimal decorations and some girls to beo, which is definitely good enough in my books!

Fret not if you are a social butterfly and your friends number more than the North Korean army, more seats are available on the second floor.

Mooncake Soft Serve with Mochi Doughnut $15
The unique nutty tasting lotus ice cream and salted egg drizzles, combined with the different textures of the deep fried mochi and rice krispies successfully pleased our sweet tooth. The mochi also does not turn soggy after coming into contact with the melted ice cream, as the outer layer remained crispy until our last bite.

Soft Serve with Earl Grey Mochi Bursts $15
It was a dilemma choosing between the mochi doughnut or the very instagram-able / boomerang-able mochi balls bursting with earl grey sauce, so we got both. The earl grey sauce was thick, sweet and very yummy, while carrying the distinct aroma of the earl grey. We preferred this over the mochi doughnut because the sauce was that good.

Okay i take it back about being boomerang-able.. Disappointing burst, but delicious nonetheless.
