Alfero Artisan Gelato: Ice Cream And Waffles From Heaven

I recently found out that gelato is healthier and contains waaaay less fat than ice cream. This ground-breaking revelation means that i'm going to have gelato every meal, every single day without consequences. Yay to nutritional information and statistics!

We discovered Alfero Artisan Gelato by coincidence one day when we refused to return to our office after lunch. Of course as responsible working adults, we only went back an hour late lul.

The aroma of freshly baked waffles tempts people into making poor choices, like ordering one each instead of sharing with each other, a decision which we regretted 10 mins later. There is a wide array of gelato flavours and the nice aunties were more than happy enough to hand out samples. If the gelato and waffles are from heaven, then these 2 kind ladies must be the angels.

Bacio & Pistachio Gelato with Waffles $10

Firstly, their waffles are so damn good. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they soak up the melted cream so perfectly that i could make a mattress out of their waffles and sleep on it for the rest of my life. A classic gelato must have is bacio, a chocolate and hazelnut combination that is reminiscent of ferrero rocher turned into an iced, creamy delight. I also enjoyed the nutty fragrance of the pistachio, although my 2 friends fellow diners with inferior taste buds disagreed. And how can i not mention those cute faces that she drew with maple syrup? Too kawaii.

Hokkaido Milk & D24 Durian Gelato with Waffles $10.50

The Hokkaido milk gelato had a milder milky taste than we expected, although the durian was definitely on point. Pungent and packed with the king of fruits' essence, it was hands down the flavour of the day.

I love bistros tucked away among HDBs which churn out amazing fare like this little dessert parlor. The cosy-ness of it all, laid back ambience, the free flow ice water.. so comforting that we almost forgot to get back to work. Hmm.. maybe next time we shouldn't...
