Gyunami: $10 Wagyu Donburi Will Make You Wet Like Tsunami

A bowl of rice lavishly stacked with slices of wagyu beef and topped with an onsen egg at $10. Do i even have to continue writing this post anymore since that sentence alone is enough to convince you to visit? Yes, because i need to tell you how it made me stain my pants at the tender age of 25.

Amoy Food Centre is home to well known hawker stalls such as Wah Kee wanton mee and Han Kee fish soup, both boasting snaking long queues during lunch hours. We can therefore imagine the size of Gyunami owner's balls when choosing their location, situated in between and hidden behind the throng of people queuing for the other 2 stalls. Yet it may turn out to be a genius, because while you are starving to death while waiting for your fish soup, that big poster of a wagyu beef rice bowl is calling out your name and seducing you over.

Wagyu Roast Beef Donburi $10
What a work of art.. Presented so alluringly, as if i was dining in an atas restaurant with a date, when i am actually sweating alongside the office aunties in the humid hawker centre. They held nothing back with the neatly arranged mountain of beef slices. The chef must be really good at Jenga.

After breaking the egg yolk, mixing with the surprisingly fitting yoghurt sauce and seasoned rice, the entire bowl becomes a mushy, delicious mess. The wagyu beef was not melt in your mouth standard due to the cut of meat used, but it was still tender and its mild flavour was compensated by the scrumptious rice. I finished my bowl within seconds and craved for another, and another, and another.
8 / 10

It's rare to find a gem like this in the CBD area offering such exquisite cuisine and value in a hawker center. Do give them your utmost support so that they can continue providing this majestic bowl of heaven at just $10.
