Salmon Samurai: Build Your Own Salmon Donburi At Only $9.90

Salmon is love, salmon is life. It's a delicious motto to live by. And if for some reason you dislike salmon, i'm sorry.. we just can't be friends anymore..

It's time to be envious of folks working at Tanjong Pagar, because Salmon Samurai offers affordable, customisable salmon donburi bowls while disguised as a salad bar. Now you can have lunch with your pesky colleagues that insist on #eatclean, without following a diet that closely resembles a rabbit's.

Well.. technically it is supposed to be a salad bar and has healthier options like mixed salad bases and broccoli but we ain't touching that nasty crap. First, you pick your choice of salmon. An additional $6 will net you another serving of salmon (which you may choose from other flavours, worth!) Then, either yuzu-ume brown rice (no idea what that means but hey it's jap so it must be superior), udon or that other thing as your base, and finally additional toppings which were all enticing except for broccoli, which i feel should be removed from the menu asap.

Salmon Mentaiko $16.90 (Base $9.90, Supersized Salmon Mentaiko + $6, Onsen Egg + $1)
Because there can never be too much salmon aburi, my lunch kaki got a salmon aburi don with an additional serving of salmon aburi. 10 slices of salmon topped with creamy mentaiko sauce, flawlessly blowtorched to achieve that char and smokey flavour. Getting a generous bowl of salmon at this price point is an absolute steal, especially in the CBD area. Also, they threw in a single leaf of lettuce which certifies this bowl as healthy.

I opted for a fresher alternative. Again, a generous pile of salmon topped with prawn roe and a beautiful onsen egg. Now you see why the egg is such a vital addition to the dish. Anyone below 18 years of age reading this kindly close your screen now. This is way to explicit for minors.

Salmon Sashimi $16.90 (Base $9.90, Supersized Spicy Salmon + $6, Onsen Egg + $1)
The salmon sashimi was not the fattiest nor the thickest, but the freshness was evident in each slice. The salmon belly chunks in spicy mayo had a slight kick and the soft texture of the salmon went perfectly with the brown rice. The coup de grace was the creamy yolk tying everything together when mixed well. Every mouthful was so creamy and orgasm inducing, i barely made it out without staining my pants.

Trust me and give Salmon Samurai a visit, and experience this delicious salmon paradise while shamelessly lying to yourself that it's just healthy omega 3 fats. I know i did.
