Tokyo Western: Nothing Japanese About This Western, But You'll Still Go Oishii!

Ahh such a beautiful sight. An oily grilled chicken chop, crinkle cut fries and a couple of beautiful sunny side ups (ignoring the baked beans and unholy cucumbers on purpose). In which way is this Japanese? I have no clue and it doesn't matter because it is so damn good.

Tokyo Western has been a favourite amongst the Temasek Polytechnic crowd due to its close proximity and consistent quality. Still rocking an old fashioned signboard menu, I only wish i could tear off the stickers to reveal the old fashioned prices.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand beautifully cooked eggs. The yolk is extremely fragile, and without a solid grasp of culinary skills most of the yolk will break or turn into a dry mess. There’s also the egg's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into the egg shell's characterisation- its personal ideology draws heavily from the hen that laid it, for instance. Egg lovers understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the richness of the yolk, to realize that they’re not just delicious- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike eggs truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the yolk and whites not meshing with each other but co-existing as one, which itself is a cryptic reference to the philosophy of yin and yang. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion while eating scrambled eggs. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a sunny side up tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Memes aside, the chicken thigh chop was really succulent, tender and glazed with an aromatic sauce. The glistening juices are packed full of flavour and amazingly good. I would drink that as water and die in a day but it would be worth it. The crinkle cut fries were also freshly deep fried unlike other western stalls that deserve to be closed down for serving soggy fries.
