Zheng Yi Hainanese Beef Noodles: The Secret Is In The Chili

Another beef post (Sorry guan yin ma and ma zu worshippers). I just love dry versions of beef noodles. Perhaps this love affair with beef noodles stems from my parents' old stall at Changi Village (best dry beef noodles hands down, totally not biased hor, here's a review from ieatishootipost: http://ieatishootipost.sg/beef-kway-teow-flavour-that-you-can-see-changi-village-hawker-centre-part-4-of-6/) and nostalgia of smelling the gravy being prepared every night. So for a bowl of beef noodles to make me aroused, it has to be truly impressive.

For the pass 10 years, Zheng Yi Hainanese Beef Noodles has consistently impressed me, to the extent that i have to keep my pants compressed. Hidden away in this old, dinky kopitiam along Tai Thong Crescent is my go to place for beef noodles now that my parents have retired.

Beef Noodles Dry $10 (Prices start at $6)

No, a woman did not menstruate all over my noodles. The chili here goes so well with the gravy that i need exactly 7 spoonfuls of it.. and another thimbleful to go with the meat. I usually get the $10 bowl, which is essentially the same amount of noodles but with more beefy goodness like tendon and tripe. 

If this isn't porn then why are my pants getting tighter and tighter? The thick, dark lor mee style gravy, accentuated by the sour and spicy chili sauce, slides down the throat so smoothly. Accompanied by thick chunks of meat and melt in your mouth tendons, each spoonful was like an orgy happening in my mouth. So, so, good...

The oily soup that will probably shorten your life by 5 years, but you will drink it anyway because of its sweet and herbalicious goodness.

The perfect compliment of a great meal, is leaving nothing behind. I wish my mom didn't teach me any manners so i can lick any remaining zhup off the bowl.

This isn't the cheapest meal out there, but for a bowl of noodles as good as sex, 10 bucks is a small price to pay. Do note that on some days, the dry version sells out by noon. The auntie said in jest that i should not review about them because they were already busy enough. Haha jokes on you i have like 10 readers...
